EU ENERGY SECTOR: ENERGY: What to Watch: Rig Counts & COT

Sep-13 07:19
  • The latest Baker Hughes rig count data is due for release at 13:00ET. The US oil rig count last week held steady at 483 while the gas rig count fell further to the lowest since April 2021 at 94.
  • The ICE and Nymex commitments of traders reports are due for release after the close today at 18:30BST and 15:30ET. Money managers cut net long crude positions last week to a record low in data back to 2011 as global demand concerns and risk of a market surplus weigh on prices. ICE Gasoil net short positioning was the most bearish in more than eight years.

A bearish cycle in Silver remains intact and recent weakness reinforces current conditions. The metal last week traded to a fresh short-term cycle low and this has exposed the next key support at $26.018, the May 2 low. A clear break of this level would strengthen a bearish theme. Initial firm resistance has been defined at $28.872, the 50-day EMA. A clear break of this average is required to highlight a possible reversal.
