{EU Commission leaked draft shows that aluminium and cement imports will face steeper carbon charges under CBAM amid lower product benchmarks, according to Reuters.
- A lower benchmark means the system assumes a lower emissions intensity standard, exposing foreign products to greater carbon costs.
- The Commission will adopt final benchmarks in early 2026 and propose further changes next week.
