Weekly CBRT data shows the central bank's gross FX reserves stood at $61.2bln in the week to May 09. That compares to gross FX reserves of $57.6bln as of the week to May 02.
A rise of that scale had been anticipated - Reuters reported earlier in the week that “Turkey's central bank returned to being a buyer of foreign currency last week, lifting its gross reserves by $6 billion for the first time in nearly two months, bankers' calculations from data show, after it had sold $57 billion since mid-March.”
