"YPF trial: The US government announced it will support Argentina's claim." - Infobae
This should buy the Argentine government some time in proceeding with the appeal of the handover of the YPF shares and if they can get past that, to appeal the overall case more actively which we think could ultimately result in a negotiated solution some time later this year or early next year in our opinion.
The U.S. Dept of Justice will support Argentina's request to suspend the handover of YPF shares, according to Infobae. That is a repeat of a similar intervention last year under the Biden administration October 2024.
It may influence the Court of Appeals but does not have a direct impact on the case as it is a "friend of the court" filing that suggests turning over the shares would violate sovereign immunity rules and that judges lack jurisdiction to seize foreign assets. The Argentina government has been pursuing similar alliances with other governments.
This does not relate to the overall case as it just attempts to support that the appeal should proceed without having to handover YPF shares.

The G7 summit in Kananaskis, Alb. concludes later today after working sessions on support for Ukraine and energy security. The notable absence of US President Donald Trump will inevitably limit the ability of G7 leaders and those from the 'outreach partners' attending to achieve their main aims from the summit, given that it is with the US that so many countries are looking to either mitigate the impact of tariffs, ensure continued backing for Kyiv, or looking to influence a de-escalation in the Middle East.
