EMISSIONS: Aberdeen Launches Scotland’s Largest Maritime Decarbonisation

{GB}{2Q}Port of Aberdeen has launched Scotland’s largest maritime decarbonisation project, aiming to cut up to 60k tonnes of CO2e over 20 years, it said.

  • By enabling vessels to plug into the port’s renewable electricity supply instead of using fossil fuel-powered auxiliary engines.
  • This would remove the emissions equivalent of around 2,140 cars from the road annually.
  • The port aims to become the UK’s first port to achieve net zero by 2040.
