The Iranian embassy in Paris has posted a readout following a call between Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and his French counterpart, Jean-Noel Barrot. Says, "The Iranian Foreign Minister, [...], sharply criticised the positions of certain European countries that limit themselves to expressing concern about the economic consequences of this imposed war, while maintaining silence in the face of the brutal attacks carried out by the aggressors against the Iranian people."
- Araghchi "...reaffirmed the continuation of Iran's defensive operations against the aggressors, including against their bases and military installations located on the territory of certain countries in the region."
- Aragchi emphasised that the Straits of Hormuz are "closed to ships of the parties involved in this aggression.[...] He nevertheless specified that the passage of ships belonging to other countries continues in coordination with the competent Iranian authorities."
- "The Iranian Foreign Minister also stressed that any provocative action on the part of the aggressors and their supporters, including at the United Nations Security Council in connection with the situation in the Strait of Hormuz, would only further complicate the situation."
- Earlier today, US President Donald Trump warned that a return to 'Business as Usual' in the Strait would see the US "blowing up and completely obliterating all of their Electric Generating Plants, Oil Wells and Kharg Island (and possibly all desalinization plants!)," Trump has also sought to downplay the prospect of Iran charging non-participating countries to allow their vessels to transit the Strait.
