European equity benchmarks firm through the morning.

• Miners draw support from precious metals edging away from Monday lows, while banks add to an already impressive year (SX7E is now up more than 80% year-to-date).
• Elsewhere, Rheinmetall equities rally after the Kremlin accused Ukraine of launching a drone attack on Russian President Vladimir Putin's residence in the northwestern Novgorod oblast late on Monday. Russia will alter its stance in ceasefire negotiations and well-documented differences between the two parties remain, providing support for the defence name.
