Reuters reports comments from President Claudia Sheinbaum, who says that she expects to reach an agreement with the US regarding a water dispute between the two countries. On 8 December, US President Donald Trump threatened Mexico with an additional 5% tariff due to the alleged violation of a water treaty between the two countries. This would push the overall tariff on Mexican exports to the US to 30%.
