Americans' year-ahead inflation outlook eased in October as households views of the unemployment rate continued to deteriorate, according to data released Friday by the New York Federal Reserve.

In its latest Survey of Consumer Expectations, the regional Fed bank said the expected level of inflation one year from now fell two tenths of a percentage point to 3.24%. Meanwhile, expected inflation three years from now and five years from now were steady at 3.00%.

Unemployment rate and job finding expectations worsened, while job loss expectations slightly improved. Mean unemployment expectations increased by 1.4 percentage points to 42.5%, the third consecutive increase in the series, the survey showed. Spending and household income growth expectations remained largely unchanged.
