China will resolutely take countermeasures to safeguard its own rights and interests should the U.S. further escalate tariffs, said spokesman of the Ministry of Commerce in a statement on the ministry website Tuesday.
Beijing has urged the U.S. to correct its practices immediately, cancel all unilateral tariffs against China, stop economic and trade suppression, and properly resolve differences through equal dialogue on the basis of mutual respect, the spokesman said after U.S. President Donald Trump threatened additional 50% tariffs.
“If the U.S. insists on its own way, China will fight to the end,” the spokesman said. (See MNI: China To Hit Back Against US, Seek Europe Ties - Advisors)
