Chinese President Xi Jinping has called on the EU to keep its trade and investment markets open to Chinese enterprises and stressed the need for further cooperation in green and digital partnerships, Xinhua News Agency said on Thursday.
Meeting with President António Costa of the European Council and President Ursula von der Leyen of the European Commission, Xi said the EU should restrain the use of restrictive economic and trade tools and provide a good business environment for Chinese firms, noting Beijing was willing to enhance coordination with the EU on climate change and the global green transition.
In addition, China stood ready to engage in policy dialogue and cooperation in the field of artificial intelligence and jointly advance an equal and orderly multipolar world and inclusive economic globalisation, he pointed out.
“The challenges currently facing Europe do not come from China,” he said, noting that “China-EU relations are not targeted at, dependent on, or controlled by any third party.” (See MNI: China Advisors - EU Talks Hinge On Europe)
