CZECHIA: Foreign Minister Lipavsky Hopes For Finalisation Of Nuclear Power Deal

May-15 07:11
  • Foreign Minister Jan Lipavský said that he was convinced that common sense would prevail and the government could finalise the nuclear power deal with South Korea's KHNP despite ongoing legal disputes. Lipavský also said that Czechia is part of the so-called 'coalition of the willing' which considers participation in a peacekeeping mission in Ukraine. He added that the West should maintain pressure on Russia to weaken its war-fighting capabilities.
  • Majority state-owned energy utility CEZ reported an expectation-beating EBITDA of CZK43.0bn for Q1. The board approved a dividend proposal of CZK47/share, which is at the top of the range of CEZ's typical payout ratios, subject to AGM approval. An analyst call will be held at 15:00BST/16:00CEST. The utility has been at the centre of a politically charged debate over its potential transformation over the past few years

Silver is holding on to its latest gains. For now, the recent move higher appears corrective. The metal on Apr 7, traded through support at $28.748, the Dec 19 low. A clear break of this level would signal scope for a continued sell-off, towards $27.686, the Sep 6 ‘24 low. On the upside, resistance to watch is $32.213 the 50-day EMA. It has been pierced, a clear break of it would alter the picture and highlight a stronger reversal.
