- SPX eminis & Nasdaq indexes are trading mildly weaker, the DJIA underperforming in late Tuesday morning trade, inside relatively narrow ranges as markets await the FOMC minutes from the December 10 meeting when they delivered a not-so-hawkish 25bp cut but with signs of a still clearly divided committee.
- Currently, the DJIA trades down 118.47 points (-0.24%) at 48345.79, S&P E-Mini Futures down 8.25 points (-0.12%) at 6946.75, Nasdaq down 17.3 points (-0.1%) at 23457.6.
- Thin holiday market participation exacerbated moves somewhat as Health Care and Financials sector shares led declines in the first half, investment management shares weighed on the Financials sector: Ares Management -2.69%, Franklin Resources -1.85%, State Street -1.25%, Corpay -1.17% and Goldman Sachs -1.10%.
- Moderna -1.16%, Incyte -1.12%, Gilead Sciences -1.06%, Regeneron Pharmaceuticals -0.97% and Edwards Lifesciences -0.91%.
- On the positive side, Energy and Communication Services led advances in the first half: Occidental Petroleum +2.25%, Diamondback Energy +1.68%, , SLB +1.45%, Devon Energy +1.42% and DPA Corp +1.35%buoyed the Energy sector. Meanwhile, Meta Platforms +1.11%, Take-Two Interactive Software +1.08%, Walt Disney Co +0.81%, Fox Corp +0.60% and Omnicom Group +0.58%.
