G10 currencies have all opened stronger versus the USD in the first part of Monday trade, with yen gains leading. After closing last Friday at 155.70 we got to lows of 154.43 today (last around 154.70), up around 0.65% in yen terms. Weekend comments from Japan PM Takaichi are driving the yen gains today: "...sent a fresh warning to financial markets amid a weakening yen and surging bond yields, saying the government will be ready to take action. “It is not for me as a prime minister to comment on matters that should be determined by the market, but we will take all necessary measures to address speculative and highly abnormal movements,” she said during a television debate among party leaders on Sunday."
