In a first-round contest involving right-wing Federal Senator Flávio Bolsonaro, the son of imprisoned former president Jair Bolsonaro, and centre-right São Paolo Gov. Tarcísio de Freitas, Lula would come in first with 41% to Bolsonaro's 23% and Tarcisio's 10%.

Canadian analysts' expectations for October inflation:

Canadian CPI is expected to have pulled back in October from September's 7-month high 2.4% Y/Y. Consensus (Bloomberg median) sees October CPI at 2.2% Y/Y (2.4% prior), with M/M at 0.2% (0.1% prior), while the average Median/Trim measure is seen at 3.05% (3.15% prior).

Equities recovered from a sharp intraday sell-off to close roughly flat Friday, with the Nasdaq and S&P 500 almost unchanged but the the Dow Jones retracing 0.7% after Thursday's outperformance.
