
U.S. President Donald Trump said Monday he is removing Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook from her post effective immediately.
"I have determined that there is sufficient cause to remove you from your position," Trump said in a letter addressed to Cook and posted on his social media site, calling for her "immediate removal from office." (See MNI INTERVIEW: Fed Independence Facing Imminent Risk- Menand)
Cook was reappointed to the Board in September 2023, for a term ending January 31, 2038.
