U.S. President Donald Trump said on Tuesday via Truth Social that he has agreed to visit Beijing in April and has invited Chinese President Xi Jinping for a state visit later next year, following a phone call between the two leaders.
Trump described the bilateral relationship as “extremely strong” and said there has been significant progress on both sides in maintaining the agreements reached in South Korea.
According to China’s state-owned Xinhua News Agency, Xi told Trump during the call that both countries should “keep up the momentum, keep moving forward in the right direction on the basis of equality, respect and mutual benefit.” (See MNI INTERVIEW: China To Seek Long-Term US Deal -Senior Advisor)
