Croatia's Boris Vujcic will replace Spain's Luis de Guindos as vice president at the European Central Bank, European Union officials said on Monday. (See MNI INTERVIEW: Tariff War Pushes Up Inflation- ECB's Pelagidis)

Vujcic's appointment leaves the race for the presidency job relatively open,  ahead of the end of Christine Lagarde's term in 2028, Eurosystem sources have told MNI, noting interest in the top job from countries including Germany, the Netherlands and Spain.
