MNI BRIEF: China Will Review TikTok Licence According To Law

Beijing will review TikTok’s technology export and intellectual property licensing in accordance with the law, Ministry of Commerce spokesperson He Yadong said on Thursday in response to a reporter’s question about President Trump’s remarks that an agreement allowing TikTok to continue operating in the U.S. was reached.

He added that China hopes the U.S. side will provide an open, fair and non-discriminatory business environment for Chinese companies, including TikTok, to continue operating in the United States.

The China-U.S. Tik-Tok deal reached in Spain is a “good-will gesture” from Beijing which should help to pave the way for a successful bilateral meeting between the two nations’ presidents at the November APEC summit, a former government adviser recently told MNI.
