BNM: Malaysia Appoints Abdul Rasheed Ghaffour As New Central Bank Governor
Bank Negara Malaysia said in a press release that Datuk Shaik Abdul Rasheed bin Abdul Ghaffour has been appointed for a five-year term as its new Governor.
- Abdul Rasheed Ghaffour will take office at the beginning of next month and serve at least until the end of June 2028.
- Outgoing Governor Shamsiah said that she is "confident that Rasheed is the right person to helm the Bank as Governor, having worked closely with him for many years."
- Abdul Rasheed Ghaffour is a BNM veteran; he joined the central bank in 1988 and was promoted to the position of Deputy Governor in 2016.

Treasury futures maintain pressure on support at 115-05, the May 8 low and price remains below last week’s high of 117-00, on May 4. Price has breached the 20-day EMA and attention is on the 50-day EMA, at 114-26+. A clear break of this average would signal scope for a deeper retracement towards 114-10 initially, May 1 low. For bulls, a resumption of gains would open key resistance at 117-01+, the Mar 24 high. This is the bull trigger.
