Lithuania’s Litgrid has signed a €10.5mn contract to purchase three controlled shunt reactors, advancing preparations for the 700MW Harmony Link land interconnector with Poland, it said.
- Construction of the project is scheduled to begin in 2Q27 and is co-financed by the EU’s Connecting Europe Facility.
- Additionally, Lithuania has launched the Interconnection Strengthening Programme, aiming to increase Lithuania–Latvia cross-border transmission capacity while reinforcing the domestic grid.
- Once completed in 2034, cross-border capacity with Latvia will rise to 2.25GW from 1.25GW enabling the connection of 1.1GW of onshore wind, 800MW of solar and 2.4GW of offshore wind.
