POWER: Hungary, US to Ink Deal on Nuclear Fuel Supply

Hungary and the US are set to sign an agreement on Friday, under which Hungary plans to purchase US nuclear fuel, the country’s foreign minister Peter Szijjarto said, cited by Bloomberg.
- The agreement also covers spent fuel storage technology and SMRs.
- The intention of a deal was announced in October, as Hungary plans to diversify supplies.
- Szijjarto said previously the country will also continue to buy nuclear fuel from Russia.
- In 2024, Framatome and Hungarian nuclear operator MVM have signed a long-term contract to supply nuclear fuel for Hungary's Paks Nuclear Power Plant starting in 2027.
