Guyana to Conduct Seismic Studies Before Next Oil Block Auction.
• Natural Resources Minister Vickram Bharrat told Bloomberg a seismic research company should be selected in the next two months to conduct 3D surveys offshore before auctioning off more blocks.
• The cost of the surveys is expected to be passed on to oil and gas companies interested in developing projects and sharing part of the revenues with the country.
• Fourteen oil blocks were auctioned in 2023 without seismic studies, but future bids will be backed by data.
• Another official said proposals had been submitted to conduct the studies.
