Egypt’s EGAS is looking to buy an LNG cargo on a DES basis for May 29-30 delivery to the Aqaba import terminal in Jordan, according to Bloomberg.
- The gas will be re-routed to Egypt, Bloomberg said.
- The tender closes May 16.
- Egypt is typically a net exporter of LNG but is looking to acquire cargoes to avoid the chronic blackouts seen in 2023.
- Egypt will also receive an FSRU, Hoegh Galleon, in June, to be located in Ain Sokhna for 19-20 months. This will enable direct LNG imports.
