Eni’s Coral Norte FLNG has ‘potential’ for a final investment decision in late 2024 according to Technip Energies CEO, Arnaud Pieton.
- Coral Norte is Eni’s second floating LNG production project in Mozambique following the 3.4mtpa Coral Sul FLNG which shipped its first cargo of LNG in November 2022.
- Eni operates the Area 4 in the Rovuma Basin along with partners ExxonMobil, CNPC, GALP, Kogas, and ENH.
- Coral Norte will be a replica of Coral South, which has been a “great success for us and for Eni”, said Pieton during Technip Energies 2023 earnings conference call.
- Any FID decision in 2024 would most likely be “towards the end of the year,” Pieton said.
- “The work for us is progressing in the sense of early engineering work and preparing the groundwork for being able to hit the ground running at the time of the FID,” he said.
