Australian Treasurer Jim Chalmers will name the future Reserve Bank of Australia Governor in July.

Speaking to local media, Chalmers said he was consulting with cabinet colleagues and wanted to finalise a decision in the coming weeks.

The treasurer would not confirm whether he would reappoint Governor Philip Lowe, whose term ends September.
