An informal meeting of EU defence ministers has just concluded in Prague, Czechia, with EU High Rep for Foreign Affairs and Security Josep Borrell and Czech Defence Minister Jana Černochová holding presser (link to livestream: https://audiovisual.ec.europa.eu/en/ebs/live/2)

  • Brussels-based journalist Jack Parrock: "The EU has agreed to work to “define the parameters” of a potential military training mission for Ukraine. Not an agreement to create the mission as some had expected. This announced by EU foreign policy chief Borrell in Prague after the EU defence council." No formal decision was likely today given that it was an informal meeting
  • Borrell stated "All member states agree on launching the work on an EU military assistance mission for Ukraine", indicating that there will be discussions on what would theoretically be required for a mission to be launched, but not planning for an actual mission.
  • Borrell says EU, "to continue support to Ukraine as long and as much as needed....There has been a continuing flow of military support."
