MNI BRIEF:StatsCan Unclear On Trade Restart After Shutdown End

Statistics Canada told MNI Friday it's unclear when it will return to publishing regular trade balance figures after the end of a U.S. government shutdown deprived it of some customs data.

"Statistics Canada is just resuming its communications with the US Census Bureau. We cannot provide any specific timeframe at this time. Statistics Canada will provide updates to users as soon as new release dates are determined," a spokeswoman Maryse Carriere wrote in an emailed statement.
