Prime Minister Mark Carney recommitted Canada's Liberal Party to approving oil and gas projects alongside green energy he says will be more sought out by trade partners fighting climate change, speaking in oil-rich Alberta where leaders complain about billions of dollars worth of exports lost to federal delays.
“You can’t turn Canada into an energy superpower if you can’t get shovels into the ground,” Carney told reporters Wednesday in Calgary. In a separate statement he said Canada will be "investing in Canada’s conventional and clean energy potential, so we can reduce our reliance on the United States and build trading relationships with reliable partners."
