Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney said Sunday a trade deal with the U.S. is back on track for next month after his country scrapped a digital sales tax, a move coming two days after President Donald Trump broke off talks over the levy.
"Today’s announcement will support a resumption of negotiations toward the July 21, 2025, timeline set out at this month’s G7 Leaders’ Summit," Carney said in a statement. (See: MNI: Canada Approved CAD95B Geopolitical Contingency Borrowing) The digital tax was set to come into effect on Monday.
