Hong Kong’s securities watchdog said it will provide appropriate guidance and assistance for Chinese companies listed overseas should they wish to return and list in Hong Kong, according to a report by the Securities Times on Tuesday.

The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong and the Securities and Futures Commission have made preparations and contacted some relevant companies regarding their intention to return in response to the latest global changes, the newspaper said.

HKEX and SFC are advancing a comprehensive review of the listing system, which will further facilitate companies overseas and from emerging industries to list in Hong Kong, the Times said.

Advisors told MNI previously that Chinese authorities should encourage the return of overseas-listed Chinese internet and tech giants. (See MNI INTERVIEW2: China Support To Drive 2-3-Yr Rise In Equities)
