The U.S. TSA says it screened more than 3 million passengers at airports across the U.S. on July 7, setting a new all-time record for the largest total in a single day in a further boost for U.S. air travel.

• The record came as part of a travel surge for U.S. 4^th of July holiday.
• The prior record was set on June 23 this year.
