SOCAR's 200kb/d STAR oil refinery in Turkey is set to halt operations for up to two months from early September of maintenance, according to Reuters sources.

  • Maintenance will start on Sept. 5 and shut for 45 days, said one source.
  • The refinery will undergo its first major maintenance since its commissioning in October 2018.
  • The STAR refinery was designed to process a range of crude grades such as Azeri Light, Kerkuk and Urals, but is more adapted to heavier varieties.
  • The facility meets approximately 19.5% of Turkey's demand for processed crude oil products and reduces the country’s petroleum products imports.
