LNG storage at major Japanese power utilities continues to diverge from last year according to ICIS.

  • Storage was at 1.87m tonnes on 6 August, down by close to 0.5m tonnes compared to 7 August 2022, and nearly 1m tonnes lower compared to 31 August 2022.
  • There are currently still no signs in the LNG spot market of Japanese buyers looking to restock before winter.
