PERU: MMG Copper Miners Strike For Second Day Over Profit Bonuses
Last updated at:Nov-20 17:31By: Jack Lewis
- Source reports on Reuters earlier today indicated that the workers union at Peru’s Las Bambas copper mine, of China's MMG ltd, were on strike. This is the second day of a planned 48-hour strike. However, according to union leader Erick Ramos, the union is planning a new indefinite strike as of Nov. 28, speaking in an interview.
- This action comes after Las Bambas implied it won’t pay bonuses tied to profits despite high sales volumes.
- An MMG copper mine official has declined to comment on the impact of the strike. (BBG)
