LNG floating storage has resumed the increasing trend in place since mid August after a brief dip last week as key demand regions prepare for the upcoming winter heating season.

  • The quantity of LNG on tankers that have not unloaded for at least 20 days has risen 7.8% on the week to 4.36m tons as of Sept. 22 compared to a low of 3.68m on Sept. 17, according to Bloomberg estimates.
  • Volumes at sea are well above the previous five year range for the time of year of around 2.4m tons.
  • The estimated volume of LNG on tankers that have not unloaded for at least 30 days is also up on the week from 1.79m tons to 1.98m tons although below a peak of 2.06m tons on Sept. 1.
