Bangladesh will resume purchasing LNG from the spot market as the country’s newly formed interim government has decided to import again after a two-month hiatus, a senior Petrobangla official told Platts.
- Bangladesh has stopped issuing tenders for spot LNG from the first week of July, while the 3.75m mtpa Summit FSRU has been offline since May 30 after an incident during Cyclone Remal.
- The offline Summit LNG terminal is a major roadblock to resuming spot LNG imports, and there is no date for resuming operations.
