Kuwait’s Al Zour refinery is running its third and final CDU – increasing maximum capacity to 615,000 bpd as it ramps up according to the official KIPIC X account on Sunday.
- The refinery had recently been impacted by unexpected shutdowns. It was fully shut last month when a fuel gas feed was cut off as well as had a fire during the restart. This is the first time the refinery has been fully operational.
- Bringing online the third of Al Zour’s three mini refineries will gradually take the facility’s refining capacity to 615,000 bpd from a current 410,000 bpd according to KIPIC.
- Its ramp back to full capacity is expected to increase fuel oil availability in the Asian market in particular as well as other refined fuels.
- Major Middle East refinery capacity coming back online is also expected to reduce crude exports from the region.
