An opposition motion of no confidence in the gov't of Estonian PM Kaja Kallas has failed, with 57 MPs voting against to 34 in favour. The three-party centrist coalition led by Kallas' centre-right liberal Reform Party holds 60 seats in the 101-member Riigikogu. The opposition conservative Isamaa party submitted the motion, with the agrarian Centre Party deputy Tanel Kiik stating that "The government is steering the country in completely the wrong direction and is exacerbating the demographic, economic and confidence crisis,"
- Kallas won re-election in the March 2023 general election, resulting in a new coalition. Her Reform Party and the centre-left Social Democrats are joined by the centrist Estonia 200 party, with Isamaa going into opposition.
- The Estonian gov't has proved one of the most vocal advocates of a hard EU line towards Russia in terms of sanctions and boosting military and financial support for Ukraine. While Estonia sits as a small eurozone economy, its impact on decisions taken at the EU level has been outsized during the course of the Russian invasion.
