COMMODITIES: Gold Trend Bearish, Remains Close to $4000 Handle

Jun-24 08:59

A short-term bearish theme in WTI futures remains intact and the bear extension last week plus fresh cycle lows this week, reinforces current conditions. The contract has traded through a key support at $75.45, the Apr 17 low. This signals scope for a move towards the $70.00 handle. Key short-term resistance has been defined at $93.42, the Jun 3 high. Initial firm resistance is at $84.55, the 50-day EMA. A bearish theme in Gold remains intact and recent gains appear to have been corrective. Note that moving average studies are in a bear-mode position, highlighting a dominant downtrend. The metal recently pierced a key medium-term support at $4099.2, the Mar 23 low. A clear break of this level would highlight an important bearish development and open $4000.0 and below. Initial firm resistance is $4304.3, the 20-day EMA.
