Australian coal exports to Belgium and France have moved up on the month so far in August, while South African coal exports to Germany have declined, data from Marcura show.
- France imported 248,700t of Australian coal, up from 112,100t in July and 77,000t in June
- In contrast, Belgium imported 75,000t – climbing sharply from 0t in July-June but lower than 79,800t in May.
- German South African coal imports have stood at 57,000t in August, down from 79,400t in July but up from none in June.
- EU coal demand slumped – supported by slow power demand, renewable capacity additions and firm reserves.
