MNI BRIEF: Trump To Pick Fed Governor By End-Week

U.S. President Donald Trump said Tuesday he will pick a new Federal Reserve governor by the end of the week and again named National Economic Council Director Kevin Hassett and former Fed Governor Kevin Warsh as contenders to be the next Fed leader. 

"I'll be making that decision before the end of the week," Trump told reporters at the White House. "We'll either decide on one for permanence or the four-month period, the term."

"We've narrowed it to a couple of candidates," the president said. "Also, we're looking at the Fed chair. That's down to four people right now. There's two Kevins and two other people."
