Expectations for inflation over the next 12 months were unchanged at 2.8% in November, the European Central Bank's Consumer Expectations Survey showed on Thursday.

Expectations for inflation three years ahead were unchanged at 2.5%, as were expectations for five years ahead at 2.2%. The median rate of perceived inflation over the previous 12 months was also unchanged, at 3.1% for the tenth consecutive month. For context, Eurostat said inflation over the 12 months to November actually stood at 2.0%.

Late last year, ECB economist Marteen Dossche told MNI that perception-based indicators like the CES have become increasingly relevant to the ECB's analysis of inflation dynamics. (See MNI PODCAST: ECB Economist Sees Resilient Consumers )
