The European Parliament's International Trade Committee has decided to resume work on its trade deal with the U.S., it announced on Wednesday.

"In this spirit, we have also agreed to include among the grounds for suspension of the tariff preferences granted under both legislative proposals threats to the essential security interests of the Union or its member states, including their territorial integrity," it said in a press release.

The EU and U.S. reached an indicative agreement on the "Turnberry Deal" over tariff and trade issues in July 2025.
