The European Central Bank could consider a small further reduction in interest rates if eurozone inflation moderates consistently, Bank of Greece Governor Yannis Stournaras said in an interview with Greek radio on Wednesday.

Future rate moves will depend on both inflation and the broader economy, Stournaras said, noting that any movement would have to be gradual. “We're not ruling out any options, but we're not anticipating any moves prematurely either”.

Asked whether the ECB could abandon its data-dependent and meeting-by-meeting approach if uncertainty eases, Stournaras said that it could adopt a more systematic approach should that occur. (See MNI SOURCES: Doubts Over EU Carbon Pricing Key For ECB Rates)
