The European Commission confirmed Monday that Trade Commissioner Maros Sefcovic is on his way to Washington to meet with his counterparts, USTR Jamieson Greer and Commerce Secretary Howard Luttnick.
"They will discuss much the same issues they have been discussing the past few weeks, EU-US trade relations and, from our perspective, why we should make every effort on both sides to avoid harmful tariffs and build rather than tear down the EU-US economic relationship which is the strongest in the world," Commission Trade Spokesperson Olof Gill said.
Last week the Commission delay until mid-April EUR8bn of retaliatory tariffs against the US following the latter decision to impose 25% tariffs on EU steel and aluminium imports.
