MNI BRIEF: China Will Ensure Its Energy Security Amid Iran War

China will take necessary measures to ensure its energy security, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning told reporters at a press conference Tuesday, responding a question regarding analyst's concern over Beijing's supply of oil and gas from the Gulf region.

Energy security is very important to the world economy, and all parties should ensure a stable and smooth energy supply, Mao added. 

China’s macroeconomic exposure to the current Middle East conflict should remain manageable in the near term, supported by more than 100 days of oil import reserves and the government’s capacity to intervene, though risks could arise if disruptions persist, a policy advisor told MNI.
