China's Caixin manufacturing PMI came in at 50.4 in April, down from March's 51.2, staying in the expansionary zone above the 50 mark for the seventh straight month but hitting a three-month low, the financial publisher said on Wednesday.

The production and new order sub-index stayed above the breakeven 50 but expanded at a lower pace. The new export order sub-index fell into the contraction range to hit the lowest level since August 2023 amid U.S. tariff disruption.

Caixin's PMI mainly tracks SME manufacturers. The official PMI released on the same day, which typically covers large state-owned companies, registered 49.0 in March, down from February's 50.5 reading.
