OIL: Lukoil Crude Supply to Slovakia Halted After Ukraine Transit Ban

Slovakia has stopped receiving pipeline crude from Russian producer Lukoil PJSC due to a transit ban imposed by Ukraine, Bratislava-based pipeline operator Transpetrol SA said, cited by Bloomberg.
- “We currently record the cancellation of Russian oil deliveries to the Slovak refinery by the Russian company Lukoil, which, according to information, has been added to the expanded Ukrainian sanctions list,” Transpetrol said
- Ukraine has hardened its sanctions against Lukoil, effectively banning crude flows to central Europe via the Druzhba pipeline.
- Hungary said July 17 that it was no longer receiving Lukoil shipments.
- Central European countries such as Hungary and Slovakia had received an exemption from the ban on Russian oil imports, which were limited to seaborne only.
- However, a curtailment of pipeline exports will leave central European buyers struggling to find replacements, given their ongoing dependence on Russian crude.
