UK FISCAL: Haskel Appointed as Chair of the OBR

- Chancellor Rachel Reeves has announced that Jonathan Haskel will be the preferred Chair of the OBR to replace Richard Hughes who resigned after Budget documents were uploaded early late last year. The full press release is available here.
- Haskel is an ex-MPC member and is thought to favour headroom being wider with reserves fully remunerated.
- Haskel will join fellow former MPC member David Miles and former Treasury Director Tom Josephs on the leadership committee of the OBR - known as the Budget Responsibility Committee (BRC).
